Glass Railings & Balustrades

Stair, loft and balcony glass that keeps the view and the light — with standoff, clamp or channel mounting.

Glass panel railing on a floating staircase beside a stacked stone wall

Glass railings make stairs, lofts and balconies feel lighter and more open. They let daylight move through the house, keep sightlines clear from upstairs rooms, and on decks they protect the view you built the house for.

Legacy Glass designs and installs interior and exterior glass railing systems for homes and businesses across the Reno–Tahoe area, from floating staircases to full open-loft walkways.

What we offer

Glass Railings options

Every project is different. Here’s what we can do for yours.

Stair railings

Raked glass panels that follow the stair line, with or without a separate handrail.

Loft & walkway balustrades

Long runs of glass along open lofts, catwalks and mezzanines.

Balcony & deck glass

Exterior railings that hold up to wind and weather without blocking the view.

Standoff (pinned) systems

Glass fixed with round standoffs through the panel for a floating, architectural look.

Clamp & post systems

Glass held in clamps between posts — flexible and cost-effective.

Finishes

Matte black, stainless and brushed hardware with top-mounted or side-mounted handrails.

Designed to code, built to last

Guards and railings have to meet height, opening-size and load requirements. We design each railing around those requirements and the structure it attaches to, and specify the appropriate tempered or laminated safety glass for the application.

Because railings are often installed late in a build, we coordinate closely with the builder on blocking, stair finishes and timing so the glass goes in once and fits right.

From our customers

“Exceptional service — and fast”

I recently had Legacy Glass replace all the windows in my 1990s home, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the results. From start to finish, the entire process was smooth and professional. The sales rep was knowledgeable and helped me choose the perfect energy-efficient windows for my home and budget.

When the installation team arrived they quickly got to work removing the old windows and installing the new ones. It only took one day to install 20+ windows. The next day they finished all the trim work. The difference in my home is night and day — the new windows look fantastic and have significantly reduced outside noise and improved temperature control.

“No high-pressure sales, no problems”

When looking for a company to replace my windows, I first tried the companies that fill my mailbox regularly. Their prices were ridiculous and their sales guys were so pushy. This was NOT my experience with Legacy Glass.

Pedro patiently walked me through their window options, clearly explaining the benefits of each. What impressed me most was his honesty — he not only highlighted what we needed but also pointed out what would be unnecessary spending. He focused on finding the best solution for our home rather than pushing the most expensive option.

Questions & answers

Glass Railings FAQ

Are glass railings strong enough for stairs and lofts?

Yes, when they are engineered and installed correctly. We use tempered or laminated safety glass sized for the span and mounting system, anchored into proper structure.

Can glass railings be used outdoors?

Absolutely. Exterior systems use corrosion-resistant hardware and are a popular choice on decks and balconies where you want an unobstructed view.

How do I keep glass railings clean?

A standard glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth are all you need. Some customers choose a protective glass coating that makes fingerprints and water spots easier to wipe away.
