A cracked pane or a double-pane window that has gone cloudy does not always mean a new window. If the frame is sound, Legacy Glass can usually replace just the insulated glass unit — restoring a clear view and the insulating value for a fraction of the cost of full replacement.

Why double-pane windows fog up
Insulated windows are two (or three) panes sealed around a spacer, with dry air or argon gas in between. Over years of heating and cooling — and Reno has big day-to-night temperature swings — that seal can fail. Moist air gets in, condenses between the panes and leaves a haze that cannot be cleaned. Once that happens the window has also lost much of its insulating value.

Glass Repair & Replacement FAQ
Can foggy windows be cleaned instead of replaced?
Not effectively. The haze is inside the sealed unit, so the lasting fix is replacing the glass unit. If several windows are failing at once, it may be time to compare that cost against full replacement — we will give you both numbers.
Do you handle emergency broken windows?
Call us at (775) 843-3565. We prioritize broken glass that leaves a home or business unsecured and will get it replaced as quickly as scheduling allows.
