Window Replacement in Reno, NV

Swap drafty, foggy or single-pane windows for custom-sized, energy-efficient units — usually installed in a single day.

New black-frame replacement windows installed on a stucco home in Reno

Old windows are one of the biggest sources of heat loss in a Northern Nevada home. Reno sits at roughly 4,500 feet, which means cold nights most of the year, hot dry summers and intense high-desert sun. Single-pane aluminum windows and early builder-grade vinyl units simply were not made for that range.

Legacy Glass replaces windows in homes across Reno, Sparks, Carson City and the Lake Tahoe area. Every window is custom-sized to your openings, and our own installers handle the removal, installation, sealing and trim so the job looks finished the day we leave.

What we offer

Window Replacement options

Every project is different. Here’s what we can do for yours.

Retrofit (insert) replacement

The new window fits into the existing frame. Ideal for stucco homes because it avoids cutting into the exterior finish — the most common approach in Reno and Sparks.

Full-frame replacement

The old window is removed down to the rough opening. Best when frames are rotted, water-damaged, or you want to change the size or style of the opening.

Energy-efficient glass packages

Double-pane insulated glass with low-E coatings and argon fill, plus triple-pane options where noise or extreme exposure is a concern.

Every style

Sliders, single- and double-hung, casement, awning, picture, bay and bow, garden, transom and specialty shapes.

Patio & sliding doors

Replace a sticking, drafty sliding glass door with a smooth-rolling, insulated unit sized to the existing opening.

Finish & color options

White, tan, bronze and black frames, interior/exterior color combinations and grid patterns to suit your home.

Signs it is time to replace your windows

Fog or condensation between the panes means the seal on the insulated glass has failed and the gas fill has escaped. Other tell-tale signs are drafts you can feel on a windy day, frames that are hard to open or lock, ice on the inside of the glass in winter, rooms that overheat in the afternoon sun, and faded floors or furniture near windows.

Many Reno and Sparks homes built in the 1980s through the early 2000s still have their original windows. If yours are in that age range, it is worth having them looked at — the improvement in comfort and noise is usually obvious on the first cold night.

What to expect on installation day

We start with a free in-home consultation to measure, talk through styles and glass options, and give you a clear written quote. No pressure and no "sign today" pricing. Once your windows arrive, a typical whole-home job is installed in a day, with interior and exterior trim finished the following day.

Our crew protects floors and furniture, removes the old windows, installs and seals the new ones, and hauls away the debris. Before we leave we walk the house with you to check every window opens, locks and seals the way it should.

“Exceptional service — and fast”

I recently had Legacy Glass replace all the windows in my 1990s home, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the results. From start to finish, the entire process was smooth and professional. The sales rep was knowledgeable and helped me choose the perfect energy-efficient windows for my home and budget.

When the installation team arrived they quickly got to work removing the old windows and installing the new ones. It only took one day to install 20+ windows. The next day they finished all the trim work. The difference in my home is night and day — the new windows look fantastic and have significantly reduced outside noise and improved temperature control.

“No high-pressure sales, no problems”

When looking for a company to replace my windows, I first tried the companies that fill my mailbox regularly. Their prices were ridiculous and their sales guys were so pushy. This was NOT my experience with Legacy Glass.

Pedro patiently walked me through their window options, clearly explaining the benefits of each. What impressed me most was his honesty — he not only highlighted what we needed but also pointed out what would be unnecessary spending. He focused on finding the best solution for our home rather than pushing the most expensive option.

Questions & answers

Window Replacement FAQ

How long does window replacement take?

Most homes are installed in one day once the windows arrive, with trim work finished the next day. Larger or full-frame projects can take longer — we will give you a timeline with your quote.

What is the difference between retrofit and full-frame replacement?

A retrofit window is installed inside the existing frame, so the stucco or siding is not disturbed. Full-frame replacement removes everything down to the rough opening. Retrofit is faster and less invasive; full-frame is the right choice when the frame is damaged or you want to change the opening.

Will new windows lower my energy bills?

Replacing single-pane or failed double-pane windows with low-E, gas-filled units reduces heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer, which typically lowers heating and cooling costs and makes rooms noticeably more comfortable. The actual savings depend on your home, the windows being replaced and how you heat and cool.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. We come out, measure, walk you through options and give you a written quote at no cost and with no obligation. Call (775) 843-3565 or request an estimate online.

My double-pane window is foggy. Do I need a whole new window?

Not always. If the frame is in good shape we can often replace just the sealed glass unit. See our glass repair service, or ask about it during your estimate.
